Olivia and George's wedding was filmed on a September day at Hanbury Wedding Barns. The venue gave us lovely light, open grounds, relaxed portrait spaces and enough room for the day to move naturally from prep to ceremony, speeches, sunset portraits and the evening party.

Hanbury Wedding Barns is a venue I always enjoy coming back to. It feels nicely tucked away, with open grounds, a decking area, gazebo, lake, gardens and nearby fields that work beautifully when the light is right.
For Olivia and George's wedding, I was working alongside Pete Davis, who I have worked with many times before. The morning started quietly with Olivia and the bridal party. Everyone was almost ready when we arrived, so the focus was on details, final preparations and helping the morning settle into a natural rhythm.
The bridal prep space at Hanbury Wedding Barns has a lovely window for portraits, but the room can feel tight, so we kept things simple and made space where we needed it. Once Olivia was ready, there was a really emotional first look with her dad. He came in trying to hold it together, but it did not take long for the moment to get to him.
George and the groomsmen were already looking sharp when we met them. They wore suits with small personal pins, each one linked to a favourite team, which gave the morning a nice bit of personality without taking over the day.
The ceremony room had a full, warm atmosphere. The registrars were lovely to work with, giving us enough room to capture the key moments properly while still keeping the ceremony calm and respectful. After the vows, kiss and signing, Olivia and George headed out to greet everyone.
There was no confetti on this wedding, so we moved straight into group photos. We started with smaller family groups, then used the drone for a big group photo and video, with everyone gathered together and waving as the drone pulled away.
After drinks and time with guests, we took Olivia and George for a short portrait session around the venue. The weather was kind, the light was soft, and the gardens and lake gave us plenty of variety without needing to take them away from the day for too long.
Speeches came before the meal, so everything had to be ready early. Once Olivia and George entered the wedding breakfast room, the speeches brought a mix of emotion and humour, including a best man moment that had the whole room laughing.
Later in the evening, we went out again to the open field behind the venue. September gave us just enough sunset light to create a few warmer, more cinematic shots before heading back in for cake cutting, first dance and the party.
The dance floor at Hanbury Wedding Barns works well because it sits naturally close to the bar area. People can drift in and out, grab a drink, join the dancing, and the room starts to feel alive without anything being forced.
How I film weddings at Hanbury Wedding Barns
Hanbury Wedding Barns is one of those venues where the day can flow really naturally when the timings are right. The spaces are close enough to move quickly, but there is still enough variety for prep, ceremony, portraits, drone shots, speeches and evening coverage to all feel different on film.
I use the natural light wherever possible, especially around the windows, gardens and outdoor spaces.
I keep portraits short and relaxed so the couple do not feel pulled away from their guests for too long.
The lake, gardens, decking and gazebo give useful variety without needing to leave the venue.
When the season and timings work, the nearby field can be lovely for sunset shots.
Drone group shots can work well here when weather, timing and venue permissions allow.
The ceremony and wedding breakfast spaces have a warm barn feel that films beautifully.
The dance floor sits close to the bar, which helps the evening feel lively and natural on camera.
