Netley Hall has always stood out to me because it feels different. The ceremony room, staircase, red carpet and amount of natural light give it a really elegant character, while the wider estate gives you woodland, lawns, open fields and water for completely different looks later in the day.

Olivia and Louis's wedding started on a warm, sunny morning. Olivia and the bridesmaids were already settled into the preparations when I arrived, and the atmosphere was remarkably relaxed. Makeup was underway, the dress was easy to work with and there was enough room for everyone to enjoy the morning without the camera becoming the centre of attention.

That gave me time to work through the details properly — dress, makeup, flowers and the natural moments between Olivia and the girls — before moving across the venue to see how Louis and the groomsmen were getting on.

When I first found the boys, getting ready was not exactly their priority. They were still playing pool and enjoying the morning, so rather than force anything, I grabbed a few natural shots and left them to it.

A little later, I caught Louis through a gap in the doorway sitting alone and writing something by hand. I never interrupted to ask what it was. It may have been his speech or something for the ceremony, but what mattered was the moment itself — one quiet person in an otherwise busy wedding morning, completely absorbed in what he was writing.

Once the groomsmen were ready, we spent a short amount of time creating some sharper portraits outside. The weather and light were perfect, and the group looked incredibly smart without the photographs or film needing to become overly posed.

Back with Olivia, the final preparations led into an emotional first look with her dad before everyone made their way towards the ceremony.

The ceremony room is one of the reasons I enjoy filming at Netley Hall. There is a huge amount of natural light, the staircase sits directly behind the entrance and the red carpet gives the whole arrival a sense of occasion.

Olivia came down the stairs with her dad already emotional, and Louis was equally affected waiting for her. It was one of those entrances where you do not need to manufacture anything — you simply need to be ready in the right place when it happens.

After the ceremony, we moved efficiently through the family photographs on the lawn before taking Olivia and Louis for a short walk around the estate.

Netley Hall gives you plenty of variety without needing to create anything artificial. There are wooded areas, open fields, the lake, grass and flowers, so we could move between wider cinematic shots and much more intimate moments.

Olivia and Louis made that part particularly easy. They naturally stayed close, held hands and kept looking at each other, so very little posing was needed. A bit of guidance on movement was enough and their own connection did the rest.

The reception continued in the marquee behind the main building. Once the room was ready, we captured the details before Olivia and Louis made their entrance to a huge reaction from their guests.

Later came the speeches. Louis's speech stood out because it managed to be funny, emotional and genuinely romantic without feeling forced. There were plenty of laughs, but also more than a few tears around the room.

The first dance brought another side of them out. Olivia and Louis were naturally confident together and moved beautifully as a couple, which made the dance feel like something to observe rather than something I needed to direct.

By the time the rest of the guests joined them, the formal part of the day had disappeared and the evening had become exactly what it should be — family, friends, music and everyone enjoying themselves.
